Discovering Sandwich, Cape Cod, from a different perspective…
...kayaking the salt marsh. I see cars traveling with kayaks on the roof and I become enthralled. Where are they going? What is that like? Do I have the time?
So, my daughter encouraged me to “try it, you’ll like it,” she said. But I said, “not here where people may know me.” When in Maine last month we rented a tandem kayak and discovered a saltwater inlet and peace and tranquility and a habitat for birds and time for conversation without interruption! WOW!
So, last week when my other daughter and grandchildren were visiting from California, I helped them discover Sandwich from a kayak. Seeing the Village from the water - maneuvering under the train bridge and under busy Route 6A during the mass exodus home for many, hiding in the maze of marsh grass with only their giggles to give them away, was a memorable experience. Paddling home, the sunset was breathtaking. And at the end of our trip, at high tide, we ended at the Boardwalk, and joined in the tradition of jumping off the platform.
Kayaking has become a popular sport throughout Cape Cod and there are a multitude of places to experience. There are many kayak rental shops if you don’t own your own. Just like biking, boating, golfing, fishing on the Cape, the outdoor life is appealing to so many who consider buying a home on Cape Cod for year round pleasure or a simple vacation getaway. Residents and tourists alike crave the outdoor activities which give a Cape Cod Summer its magic!
What is your pleasure? Identify what you like to do and then search for a home near your favorite activities making it easy for you to fulfill your dreams. You can visit my website at http://www.BeverlyComeau.com and link to various Chambers of Commerce sites which feature their local points of interest. I have a new feature on my site- Market Snapshot- which allows a prospective buyer to request and receive a report showing the local market conditions for any Cape Cod address. Keep in mind, the closer to the water, the higher the values! But then again, the cost of a magical Cape Cod Summer is priceless!
