Big Business...The Film Industry...Coming Soon...

Posted to Beverly Comeau

The local buzz is a proposed movie studio complex in Plymouth- just a short 20 minute ride from Upper Cape Cod and what this would mean to the local economy.

David Kirkpatrick shares his recent vision- Plymouth Rock Studios - hoping to return to his childhood roots where his family once vacationed in Plymouth- when he dreamed of Hollywood.

David can boast 200 films in his repertoire- Forrest Gump, Top Gun, The Firm, Hunt for Red October, Terms of Endearment, Trading Places, Dead Poet’s Society, An Officer and a Gentlemen, Indiana Jones and Star Trek- movies that made you feel good!

The state of Massachusetts has tax incentives and cheaper production costs which are in part driving plans forward. Did you know... There have been 18 movies filmed in the Boston area over the past two years. And this location can attract not only large movies but more modest ones as well as digital media.

Looking at the local workforce…construction, production, hospitality workers… there is a wealth of qualified, professional resources able to respond which will benefit the entire region of the South Shore and Cape Cod.

Looking forward to this becoming reality, housing needs will be spurred as well. David Kirkpatrick is a guest speaker at the upcoming Business Connect 2008 Conference in Hyannis where he will discuss the entrepreneurial spirit and his path to success.
